February 19th, 2009

In the 2Q of this year company Acer is planned to lay off models of netbooks Aspire One with 8.9″ screen, having saved the pipeline only 10.1″ netbooks. If to consider that this year Acer plan win about 40-50 % of the netbooks market it is possible to predict high popularity of such size computers.
Total in the world can be sold 25-30 million netbooks this year and in 2010 sale can grow to 40-45 million pieces. Read the rest of this entry »

Samsung announced mobile phone Blue Earth with solar battery

February 15th, 2009

samsung solar-powered smartphone Samsung never avoided to apply new technologies in the smartphones. It was necessary Apple to bring a fashion on touchscreen as the company simply gluts the market with various models with this technology.

As soon as have appeared concepts using solar energy source as the company announced mobile phone Blue Earth which will be shown next week in Barcelona at Mobile World Congress 2009. As it is not difficult to guess from the name, it will be “eco-friendly” phone. With a touch-sensitive display, certainly.

The main distinctive feature is the solar battery on the back side which is an alternative source of accumulator charging. Samsung accentuates that it is the first smartphone equipped both a touch-sensitive display and the solar battery simultaneously.
The device case is made from non-polluting materials.

The user interface also pays owner’s attention to ecology problems. For example, there is a pedometer which compares excretion of carbonic gas by the person at walking to an exhaust of carbonic gas of the car which has overcome the same distance.

Nokia announces own clone App Store

February 15th, 2009

For OS Symbian, used in the majority of smart phones Nokia, there is a lot of various applications, however until recently there was no uniform tools which would allow to find fast the necessary program and to buy it. This disadvantage became especially obvious after start App Store, whence already has been downloaded more than 500 million various digital products. It is quite natural that the interesting initiative was adopted by competitors. Read the rest of this entry »

Kingston shows 24 Gb of memory in desktop system

February 14th, 2009

Transition of the company of Intel to usage of three-channel memory in the flagman desktop systems has involuntarily increased DDR-3 memory sets size. For example, at usage of units in size of 1 Gb the total volume of a three-channel package reaches 3 Gb, and at usage of units in size of 2 Gb it increases to 6 Gb. At last, the most greedy to RAM users can gain three-channel packages from memory modules in size on 4 Gb. Read the rest of this entry »

Whether will bring improvements 40nm technical process?

February 10th, 2009

Data on characteristics of chips RV740 and RV790 from site AMD has allowed to understand that rise of frequency with 750 to 850 MHz in a case with chip RV790 is reached simultaneously with power rise on a kernel from 1.26 to 1.3 V.
It is hard to estimate how transition to 40 nanometers influences frequency potential of chips RV770/RV790.

The Inquirer asserts that the reason of delay of implantation of 40nm in mass production became high leaked currents. This problem was not solved and level of power consumption of the 40nm chips manufactured by TSMC hardly will essentially improve. AMD and NVIDIA plan to byu the video chips from TSMC therefore the problem will concern their production.

Nevertheless, manufacturers of video chips will welcome transition to 40 nm as it will allow to reduce kernel square. Thereby cost price lowering will be reached, and in certain cases there will be a possibility to increase quantity of functions and to lift speed.

Hynix is ready to start the chips DDR-3 on 40nm

February 10th, 2009

Samsung has already shown DDR2-800 memory released on 40nm process, we will see DDR-3 40nm not earlier than the end of 2009.

Other large memory chip’s manufacturer, Hynix Semiconductor, has declared 1 Gbit DDR-3 40nm chips. Chips should be approved Intel company as it is released according to specifications.

New generation Hynix memory is applied in modes to DDR3-2133 inclusively at a wide range of power voltages. From one silicon slice Hynix receives in 1,5 times more chips, than at usage of technology of 50 nanometers. The technology of “the three-dimensional transistor” allows to lower leaked currents and the general level of power consumption of memory. Mass production 1 Gbit DDR-3 40nm chips will start in the third quarter of current year.

Hynix plans to use 40 nanometers technical process in production of other types of memory, for example, videocards memory. The company hopes that 40 nanometer chips DDR-3 will take the lead positions in the market in the second half of the year.

Studying appearance of “green” processors Core 2 Quad

February 9th, 2009

On January, 18th the company of Intel not only has sharply reduced the prices for many 4-cores processors Core 2 Quad, but also has released three “green” models with level TDP no more than 65 Watt. The most efficient processor, Core 2 Quad Q9550s, works on frequency of 2.83 GHz, its frequency clone had till now level TDP no more than 95 Watt. Read the rest of this entry »
